Meanwhile, the designers shaping Africa’s digital future are solving for mobile-first users, low connectivity, multiple languages, and products like mobile money that the rest of the world is only now catching up to.
Tutorials can teach you tools. They can’t teach you how to research users in Makola Market, design onboarding for first-time smartphone users, or present your work to stakeholders who’ve never worked with a designer before.
That gap between what design education offers and what African designers actually need is why so much talent stays stuck at “self-taught” without a path to industry-ready.
